How to Play Commando
Quick start
At the title use SELECT to choose one or two players, then START. Players alternate in the two-player option. After landing, move upward while using B to clear a path. Collect flashing grenade boxes and reserve A for cover-protected enemies or suspected shelter entrances.
Controls
Pad: move in eight directions and face the rifle. B: shoot. A: throw a limited grenade forward toward the top of the screen. SELECT chooses the title mode and has no in-game function. START begins, pauses and resumes.
Commando — About this game
The helicopter drops Super Joe into enemy territory with a rifle and a limited grenade supply. Move and fire in eight directions while pushing toward the next fortified gate; grenades arc forward and deal with enemies protected by barricades. Flashing supply boxes replenish them, making a safe route to supplies as valuable as another kill.
This NES edition spans sixteen areas and adds underground shelters to the battlefield. Hidden entrances can reveal prisoners, useful equipment or dangerous rooms, so exploration brings both rewards and risk. Two people can take turns, each handling the infiltration alone. Keep moving enough to escape encirclement, but leave grenades available for protected positions and hidden passages.
