How to Play Deadly Towers

Quick start

Press START at the title, then START again on the password screen to begin. Learn to aim A sword shots diagonally while staying away from broken edges. Collect hearts and Ludder, inspect new gear with SELECT and use it with A. Mark your route before entering an invisible maze. Defeat each tower guardian, retrieve its bell and return to the sacred flame. To stop, record the password displayed after game over; later enter it with the D-Pad and A, use B to step back a character, then START.

Controls

D-Pad moves Myer in eight directions and selects items or password letters. A throws a sword; in shops it buys the item in front of Myer, and in inventory it uses the highlighted item. SELECT opens or closes inventory/status. In that screen B twice discards the selected item. Password entry uses A to enter and B to move back. START starts play.

Deadly Towers — About this game

Prince Myer enters a mountain palace where seven bells summon monsters for Rubas. Each tower ends in a guardian encounter; take its bell back to the sacred flame to destroy it. Burning all seven opens the route to the final enemy. Movement and sword shots work in eight directions, so diagonal approaches are useful on stairs and narrow paths. Broken edges are fatal regardless of remaining life, and an enemy hit can push Myer toward danger.

The weak starting sword makes equipment a priority. Gloves improve projectile speed, different swords raise damage, and helmets, shields and armor contribute to defense. Hearts restore health, while circle hearts expand its maximum. Search carefully for concealed shops, secret rooms and entrances to large underground mazes; drawing a map helps distinguish their similar rooms. Some hidden spaces are parallel worlds with a single return point. Original-cartridge continuation uses a password shown after defeat. It preserves achieved maximum health and some equipment rather than providing an unrestricted save at the current position.
