How to Play Destiny of an Emperor

Quick start

Press START, select れきししょをとうろくする and choose an empty book. Use D-Pad/A for the name, then おわる or START. In the first village, speak to the person beside the horse for money and provisions. Equip all officers before leaving, visit Tao Qian in Xu Zhou, and save at the historian using きろく then はい.

Controls

D-Pad moves and selects. A opens the command menu, confirms and advances messages. B cancels or returns to the previous choice; during All-Out it restores battle commands. SELECT shows army status. START leaves the title screen. Use どうぐ to equip, たいれつ to order the party and ぐんし to assign a strategist.

Destiny of an Emperor — About this game

Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei begin a campaign against the Yellow Turban rebels, and their army grows through victories, conversations and recruitment. Towns provide information and supplies, while castles and passes present battles that advance the story. This is an RPG journey rather than a map of independently managed provinces: you guide a travelling group of officers and decide their actions in rounds. Each officer’s displayed strength includes the soldiers under their command.

Up to seven officers travel together, but only five fight at once; a larger group can leave its strategist behind the fighting line to provide tactics. Assign that role deliberately and watch the shared tactical reserve. Weapons and armour must be equipped, including starting equipment that merely sits in a pack. Recover soldiers at inns and keep provisions available before travelling, because an army without food loses men. All-Out resolves routine battles quickly, but B returns control when a fight needs individual orders. Seek the town historian to write your progress to one of three history books; resting at an inn alone does not record the adventure.
