How to Play Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Quick start
Enter the mode screen from the title, choose 1P PLAY or a two-player option and a difficulty, then press START. For cooperation without partner damage use 2P PLAY A. In the opening fight, try A against a foe on the right, B against one on the left, and A+B on safe ground before attempting a gap.
Controls
D-pad: move and use ladders where available. A: attack right; B: attack left. Facing the enemy gives a forward punch; the opposite-side attack is a back kick. A+B together: jump. A or B in the air: jump kick. Over a dropped weapon, A or B: pick it up. START: confirm/pause or skip scenes.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge — About this game
Learn the attack directions before chasing elaborate moves. A always attacks to the right and B to the left, while the character's facing determines whether that becomes a forward punch or a backward kick. A string of hits can leave an enemy vulnerable to an uppercut or a grab, and dropped weapons provide temporary alternatives. The NES adventure also asks for careful movement: fights give way to ladders, gaps and platform hazards where losing your footing can cost a life regardless of the health remaining. Two players can work together in mode A without hurting each other, or choose mode B with partner damage enabled. Watch the landing space and line up with an opponent before attacking. Advanced strikes depend on timing around jumps or recovery, so practise the basic two-button jump away from an edge first.
