How to Play Faxanadu
Quick start
Press START to begin a new journey. Enter Eolis and visit the Guru, then the king for starting funds. Buy a Hand Dagger and a Jack Key; open SELECT and equip the dagger before leaving through the east gate. Learn the first enemies near town and record a mantra before a longer expedition.
Controls
D-Pad: move, climb ladders; Up also enters doors and starts conversations. A: jump; advance dialogue or confirm a menu choice. B: thrust with the equipped weapon; cancel dialogue. Up+B: cast the selected spell. Down+B: use the selected usable item. SELECT: equipment/status menu. START: pause.
Faxanadu — About this game
Eolis has lost its water and its people are leaving. Your route toward the source of the disaster runs through the roots, misty trunk and branches of an enormous tree. The action takes place on side-view screens: judge a jump, strike with a short blade, or spend magic to reach an enemy before it reaches you. Towns interrupt the dangerous paths with equipment shops, healing and conversations that point toward the next obstacle.
Keys and quest tools matter as much as winning a fight. Buy the right key before entering a tower, equip purchases in the menu, and remember a blocked passage when a new item gives you a way through. Gurus provide mantras for resuming a journey. These preserve acquired items, but revival experience and money depend on your recorded rank; a password is not an exact snapshot of every counter.
