How to Play Red Arremer II

Quick start

Press START at the title, choose スタート with the D-Pad and confirm A. Face inhabitants and A to read their directions, then visit training. Practice short/held A jumps and a second midair A to hover, landing before the gauge runs out. B fires. For a later session choose あくまのすうじ and enter your recorded password; the original Japanese manual notes that lives and vial currency return to their initial amounts.

Controls

Overhead: D-Pad moves, A talks/confirms, B cancels; START opens Level, Tool and Magic. Action: left/right move, A jumps, a second A starts hovering and another A ends it; down releases a wall grip. B shoots the chosen magic. START opens the status/weapon screen, left/right selects and A confirms. SELECT is unused.

Red Arremer II — About this game

A mysterious Black Light strikes while the young gargoyle Firebrand is training. His search for its source alternates between overhead towns and travel routes, and side-view action stages. Talk to inhabitants for destinations and quest items rather than treating every building as scenery. In the action sections, a jump into a wall lets Firebrand cling there; another press of A in midair starts hovering. Early wing stamina is short, so plan a landing or wall grip before crossing a gap.

New abilities extend jumps, flight and the routes you can reach. Buster breaks obstacles, Tornado provides a temporary foothold, and Claw creates a surface on spikes to cling to. Magic therefore changes movement as well as combat. Collect vials to exchange for extra lives, and choose attacks or the healing essence from the status screen when available. Progress is resumed through passwords supplied by characters around the realm. Record a fresh code when you reach a new stopping point; continuing after all lives are lost can send you back across several action sections.
