How to Play Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Quick start
Choose START at the title and press START. Begin by moving out of the laboratory toward Billy’s office, using B to throw tomatoes and A to cross gaps. Let the moving platform approach before jumping; do not stop your flight with an unnecessary shot. Collect crystal balls, enter a small shop door when it appears and choose one useful supply. START shows your current weapon, hearts, balloons and money.
Controls
D-pad moves Gizmo, including diagonally; A jumps and B attacks with the current weapon. START starts or pauses to the item display; SELECT is unused. Shop: move the cursor to an item and press A to buy, B to cancel. Password: select PASSWORD at the title, press START, use left/right for the position and up/down for the letter, then A or START confirms. At game over choose CONTINUE for another attempt; a boss defeat restarts the preceding section.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch — About this game
Gizmo’s escape from a genetics laboratory becomes a climb through the Clamp Center’s offices, ventilation passages, television studios and dangerous machinery. This NES adventure uses an overhead view, so jumping between moving platforms requires reading the shadow beneath Gizmo rather than treating a gap like a side-view platform. Shooting can interrupt movement, including in midair, so avoid firing halfway across a dangerous jump. The weapons change as the story advances, from thrown tomatoes to a match, paper clips and homemade bows. A purchased Power Pak improves the later weapons, while the tomato cannot be upgraded. Enemies leave crystal balls that pay for Mr. Wing’s supplies: recovery, extra lives, improved health capacity or balloons that rescue a fall. Shopping choices matter because a visit allows one purchase before the shop disappears. A pogo stick protects against enemy attacks for a while but does not make holes harmless. Five stages build toward encounters with mutated Gremlins. Unlimited continues and four-letter passwords offer another attempt, but restarting does not preserve the stock accumulated during a successful run, and a boss failure resumes from the preceding section.
