How to Play Just Breed

Quick start

At the title press START, choose an empty たびのきろく and はじめから. Enter a name with D-Pad/A and finish with おわり; SELECT changes kana. Talk to フィリス north of the square using A→話す. After the ceremony, follow the path north of the church to the large tree. Once the abduction sequence ends, speak to the elder west of the church. At the inn choose きろくをする→はい before leaving through the west exit to meet your guards.

Controls

D-Pad moves in town or moves the cursor. A opens/accepts commands and advances text. B cancels and cycles field characters; hold B with a direction to run in town. START begins at the title; SELECT switches hiragana/katakana during naming. In battle select a leader and unit with A, choose a tile, then an action. Choose adjacent 巣穴 to seal a den; 中断 suspends the battle.

Just Breed — About this game

Astholm’s Sapphire Festival turns into a rescue mission when the priestess Firis is taken away. As captain of the town guard, you recruit other leaders and their troops while following the trail through towns, roads and strongholds. Towns allow free exploration, conversations, shopping and recovery; outside them, movement and attacks unfold across a grid. Weapon reach matters: archers need distance, while close fighters protect the vulnerable members.

Armies act as groups. Select a leader, then finish that troop’s actions before moving to another troop; do not strand soldiers far from their commander. Monster dens keep producing enemies until someone approaches and uses 巣穴 to close them. A fallen leader takes the remaining troop out of battle, while hospitals can restore fallen allies. Save a travel record at an inn, after completing the opening festival events. The battle menu also offers 中断 for an in-game suspension, separate from an emulator state. This is the original Japanese release, with two travel records and Japanese menus.
