How to Play Mega Man 2
Quick start
At the title screen, use SELECT to choose NORMAL or DIFFICULT before pressing START. Press START past the introduction and choose START for a new game. On the robot screen, move the cursor with the D-pad and confirm with START. Try Flash Man to practice stopping before a ledge and adjusting jump height. Open the weapon screen before collecting weapon energy so the intended weapon receives it.
Controls
D-pad: move horizontally, climb ladders and select stages or equipment. A: jump; hold longer for a higher jump, or release a ladder. B: fire the equipped weapon, including while airborne. START: start/confirm and pause at the weapon screen; choose equipment and press START to return. Password grid: A places a chip, B removes it.
Mega Man 2 — About this game
Every opening stage has a distinct obstacle course and a Robot Master waiting at its end. You decide which to attempt first, then bring the weapon earned from that victory into later battles. Jump height responds to how long A is held, so clearing a short ledge and crossing a pit require different timing. Special weapons consume their own energy, while the ordinary arm cannon remains available without ammunition pickups. Three support items gradually add temporary platforms and transport, and an E-Tank can restore life when a fight goes badly. Once all eight robots fall, the fortress tests both movement and the equipment you have collected. Record the password to return with acquired equipment; it does not preserve your position partway through the fortress.
