How to Play Mega Man 5
Quick start
Start a new game from the title screen with START. Move the cursor to one of the eight robot portraits and press A. Practise charging without running into enemies, and look for the stage’s letter plate before rushing to its boss.
Controls
Control Pad: move, climb ladders and select. A: jump; Down+A: slide. B: fire; with the normal cannon, hold B and release for a charged shot. START: pause with the weapon screen; choose with the pad and confirm with A or START.
Mega Man 5 — About this game
The route to Dr. Light runs through eight robot stages, but finishing each fight is not the only objective. A letter plate is hidden in every one; collecting the complete set unlocks Beat, the attack bird. Gravity Man flips the direction of gravity, Star Man changes the feel of jumping, and Wave Man adds a water-bike sequence, so stage knowledge matters as much as the strength of a charged shot.
The Super Mega Buster produces a larger blast, but being hit cancels the stored charge. Rush’s Coil and later Jet help with travel; Super Arrow can also create a rideable route. Missed plates can be sought by revisiting completed stages. Keep life recovery separate from ammunition management: an E-Tank restores life, while an M-Tank also replenishes weapons. Copy both the colour and placement of password dots.
