How to Play Mega Man 6
Quick start
Start a new game from the title screen with START. Move the cursor to one of the eight robot portraits and press A. Learn jumping and Down+A first. After earning an adaptor, open the weapon screen and examine previously unreachable routes.
Controls
Control Pad: move, climb ladders and select. A: jump; Down+A: slide. B: fire; with the normal cannon, hold B and release for a charged shot. START: pause with the weapon screen; choose with the pad and confirm with A or START. In Jet form, press and hold A in mid-air to fly briefly. Armour forms cannot slide.
Mega Man 6 — About this game
The tournament’s eight captured robots provide the initial stage choices, but a second layer of exploration opens when Rush combines with Mega Man. Power armour trades reach for a charged punch that can break cracked barriers. Jet armour allows short flights, with a gauge that must be replenished by landing. Changing form is a route decision, not simply a permanent increase in damage.
Some stages lead to more than one boss entrance. Finding the right alternative paths earns the four BEAT plates and the optional bird support. The adaptors also impose limits: armour forms cannot slide, and the normal charged-shot options are not available in every form. Return to the ordinary suit when a narrow passage calls for it. Boss weapons and recovery tanks remain important, while passwords provide the game’s own progression checkpoints rather than free saves.
