Metal Gear — About this game

Solid Snake begins this NES infiltration with little equipment and a dangerous route through the jungle. Search trucks and storerooms for weapons, ammunition, rations and the numbered cards needed to open doors. The challenge is deciding when to slip past a patrol and when to fight: careless gunfire can trigger an alert, while a silencer helps keep suitable firearms quiet. The command menu separates weapons, equipment and radio calls, so choosing the right tool matters as much as reaching the next room. Rescuing prisoners improves rank, health capacity and carrying limits; harming them works against that progress. Buildings and elevators connect a larger search rather than a simple sequence of shooting stages. This one-player NES adaptation has its own route and encounters. Continue after defeat or record the password shown by END to return later.
