How to Play Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos
Quick start
Press START at the title. Slash the orbs with B to collect items and the first shadows. Try climbing a safe wall, then jump away with the outward direction+A. Use up+B for a ninja art and watch the power reserve.
Controls
Pad: run, crouch and climb up/down walls or ladders. A: jump; outward direction+A jumps off a wall. B: sword. Up+B: ninja art; while clinging, B alone uses the art. START: begin, pause/resume or skip a cinema scene. SELECT unused.
Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos — About this game
An ordinary sword attack costs no ninja power, while the equipped art supplies a limited special attack. Breaking the floating orbs provides resources and new abilities, including up to two phantom copies. These follow Ryu’s route and repeat attacks from their own positions; they do not add human players. A copy left higher up can reach a target beyond Ryu’s current sword height.
Wall movement now allows climbing both up and down, but a safe departure still requires a directed jump. Across seven acts, wind, water and awkward terrain alter the route while enemies threaten to knock Ryu into pits. Reversing direction can also bring enemies back into view. The first act gives room to learn how orbs, shadows and walls interact. Practice those tools before relying on a large reserve of special attacks to solve every approach.
