How to Play Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
Quick start
Use SELECT to choose START and press START. Try LOOK and CHECK before MOVE. In Celery Forest, TALK to the thirsty Percy. At Lake Quench, TAKE WATER, return and GIVE it to him; TALK twice and LOOK to have him join. Keep checking ITEM and ask PERCY when a new scene leaves you unsure what to investigate.
Controls
D-Pad selects commands; A confirms or advances text, B cancels. SELECT chooses START or CONTINUE at the title; START begins. In mazes, Up walks forward, Left/Right turns and Down turns around. In Finger Wars, Up/Down is rock, Left scissors and Right paper; the next phase uses directional pointing or looking. CONTINUE restores an area from its password.
Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom — About this game
Sir Cucumber returns to a kingdom controlled by Minister Pumpkin and sets out to rescue Princess Tomato. Instead of moving a hero around a normal action map, you choose verbs beside an illustrated scene. LOOK reveals the surroundings, CHECK examines a detail, TALK gathers information and TAKE puts an object into your inventory. A scene can change after a conversation or a return visit, so treating each command as a one-time checklist can leave a useful clue undiscovered. Percy, a young persimmon rescued early on, becomes both companion and occasional source of advice.
Some areas switch to first-person mazes, while confrontations use Finger Wars. The duel begins with rock-paper-scissors, then asks you either to point in the opponent’s facing direction after winning or to look away from their finger after losing. Investigation and this second directional choice matter more than a conventional attack button. Completing an area supplies a password for the next area’s beginning. Write it down and check the inventory after transitions, because Percy can lose objects between sections.
