Punch-Out!! (Golf U.S. Course Prize) — About this game

Little Mac climbs the WVBA circuits under Doc Louis, facing opponents whose size matters less than their habits. Watch for a raised glove, a change of expression or a pause before a punch, then dodge and answer with the appropriate head or body shot. The heart counter measures your ability to keep attacking: wasted punches and hits drain it, leaving Mac unable to throw a punch until defensive movement restores his composure. His stamina bar is separate; emptying it causes a knockdown. Well-timed attacks can award stars, with up to three available for powerful START-button uppercuts. Being hit costs a star and falling loses the stock, so waiting too long can waste an earned opening. A match has three rounds, and three knockdowns in one round normally produce a TKO. Press A/B rapidly to stand before the referee reaches ten. Between rounds, SELECT offers one recovery opportunity per match. Circuit pass keys let you resume the climb later. This Japanese gold-cartridge edition was a Golf U.S. Course tournament prize, not an ordinary retail release. Its last opponent is Super Macho Man: neither Tyson nor Mr. Dream follows him. Its title appears immediately at startup, and its circuit pass keys are not interchangeable with the later retail Tyson edition.
