How to Play Rygar
Quick start
Press START. Learn the reach of B attacks and use A jumps across the opening mountain platforms. Enter doors to seek hermits and listen to their advice. Once you obtain the grappling weapon, try Up or Down+B at suitable cliffs and trees to reveal new routes.
Controls
D-pad: move, crouch and climb. A: jump. B: Diskarmor; Up/Down+B uses the acquired grappling weapon at suitable spots. START: subscreen/back; Up/Down then A selects a power, Left/Right then B uses an item. SELECT: pause.
Rygar — About this game
The NES journey alternates side-view climbing and jumping with overhead exploration through interconnected regions. Your Diskarmor reaches beyond the hero, allowing attacks while standing, crouching, climbing or airborne. Defeating enemies gradually improves fighting strength and endurance, while spirit capsules supply a separate reserve for special powers. Choosing to spend that reserve on a longer attack or save it for recovery can shape a difficult expedition. Hermits provide advice and help, and sacred treasures such as a grappling weapon, pulley and crossbow make previously blocked routes usable. Returning to familiar terrain with a new tool is part of finding the way toward the enemy’s airborne stronghold. A defeat can be continued with START from the current region’s beginning; the cartridge has no persistent save or password.
