How to Play Sweet Home

Quick start

Press START at the title, register the five names and watch the introduction; START can skip it. Use こうたい to select Asuka and どうぐ to use her vacuum on the glass blocking the north doorway. Form nearby groups with なかま, explore the northwest fresco room, equip its fruit knife in the weapon slot and bring Taguchi to photograph the painting. Save with せーぶ before risking a new area.

Controls

D-Pad moves and selects. A opens the main command menu and confirms; B opens the subscreen or cancels. START begins the game and pauses on the field; SELECT is unused. こうたい changes the controlled person, なかま forms/splits a party, しらべる examines and どうぐ uses/picks up items. Field せーぶ saves; ぎぶあっぷ→あきらめる erases the saved record.

Sweet Home — About this game

A television crew enters an abandoned mansion to document Ichiro Mamiya’s frescoes and becomes trapped inside. You control all five people, splitting them into groups of up to three and switching between them to explore different corridors. The camera reveals messages in paintings, the vacuum clears glass and dust, and other personal tools open routes that one group cannot manage alone. Read nearby clues before spending supplies or crossing damaged floors.

Random encounters use commands, while hazards in the mansion can separate or endanger the explorers. Each person has a personal tool, two general item spaces and a weapon slot, so exchanging objects and remembering where you left them matters. Akiko’s kit removes conditions such as poison; it does not restore HP. Medicine bottles are limited, and a character who dies cannot be revived. The number escaping determines the ending. Save with せーぶ on the field: the original cartridge has one battery-backed record, not passwords. This Japanese release keeps its Japanese menus and original names, including Taguchi rather than a fan translation’s Taro.
