Controls
Left/right walks; up enters doors or climbs stairs, down crouches or descends. A jumps, with height depending on how long it is held. B attacks or speaks to a nearby person; A/B advances dialogue. START opens equipment selection: D-Pad chooses, A confirms, START returns. SELECT uses the chosen special item. With the appropriate weapon and power acquired, up+B releases Prometheus’ fire or the Divine Sword’s projectile.
The Battle of Olympus (Japan) — About this game
Orpheus begins with a club and a promise to rescue Helene from Hades. His route passes through villages, caves, forests and ruined temples connected by side-scrolling passages. Conversations point toward useful discoveries, while the gods provide the equipment needed to reach places that initially seem inaccessible. Visiting Zeus is the first priority. Later, Hermes’ sandals change how you approach high ledges and ceilings, and Apollo’s harp makes certain long journeys much shorter.
Fighting and exploring support each other. Olives dropped by enemies pay for important objects, so repeatedly losing half your supply after choosing Continue can delay the next purchase. Better weapons help, but some also solve environmental problems: Prometheus’ fire can clear obstructions and light a dark cave. Collect the fragments entrusted to three nymphs to learn how to reach Tartarus. A temple’s “word of god” is the original game’s password; copy it carefully before ending a session. The adventure uses passwords rather than a cartridge save menu.
This Famicom release is in Japanese. Names accept up to four characters, including voiced marks.
