How to Play Nintendogs: Best Friends
Quick start
Choose a breed and a puppy at the kennel, then purchase it. At home, follow the naming prompts: say the name clearly and consistently into the microphone, then enter its written name after it learns the sound. Pet your puppy and try a simple trick when the training icon appears. Tap the book-and-pencil save icon on the home screen to save before leaving.
Controls
Tap and stroke on the touch screen to interact with the puppy and choose supplies. Call its learned name through the microphone. When the training icon appears, tap it and say a command for the trick just performed; repeat the lesson, then register its text name. For a walk, draw a route that returns home within the dog’s stamina. Use the home-screen save icon to record progress.

Nintendogs: Best Friends brings the DS puppy simulation together with a starting selection of six breeds, including the Beagle, Golden Retriever and Miniature Dachshund. The relationship grows through small routines: calling your puppy by name, petting it, feeding it and practicing tricks. Touch gestures handle toys and care, while the microphone lets a learned word become a command. Walks follow a route you draw around town, and practice prepares your dog for obedience, agility and disc contests. Progress opens more items and breeds, so the initial selection is a beginning rather than the whole collection. Saving from the home screen keeps the time spent with your puppies.
