How to Play Orb-3D

Quick start

Press START to begin. Use Up and Down to keep the force shields aligned with the Orb, then press A to dive toward targets. In the first chamber, aim to pop all the bubbles. Watch how the Orb’s path changes after a dive instead of treating A as a projectile button. When the fuel gauge reads LOW, press B to visit Vern’s; steer through the fuel bays and use A to dive there as needed.

Controls

D-pad Up/Down: move the vertical force shields; in some chambers, move the Orb vertically. A: dive and alter the Orb’s trajectory. B: go to Vern’s Orb-O-Rama to refuel. START: begin the game or pause during play. Only controller 1 is used. If Vern’s bays are closed for lack of credit, hit the dollar-sign icon at the right of the station; the borrowed fuel must be repaid with points.

Orb-3D — About this game

ORB-3D mixes a paddle-and-ball framework with a series of strange puzzle chambers. Your spherical spacecraft follows an orbital path, while movable force shields keep it inside the arena. Diving changes that path so the Orb can strike objects on the central plane; a target may react differently depending on the direction of the hit. There are thirty Enigma Chambers on the way to the space wizard Krohn, and simply clearing every object is not always the answer. Missed returns cost fuel, so you must also judge when to visit Vern’s Orb-O-Rama and guide the craft through its refueling bays. The original 3-D glasses enhance the presentation but are not required to play.
