How to Play Pac-Man
Quick start
At the title, use SELECT to choose one or two players and START to begin. Steer with the D-pad and eat every dot. Keep a route away from approaching ghosts; use a Power Pellet to reverse a dangerous chase, but stop pursuing when its effect is about to end. Try the side tunnels when the middle of the maze gets crowded.
Controls
D-pad: move in four directions. SELECT at the title: choose the number of players. START: begin or pause play. A and B have no gameplay function. Two-player mode uses alternating turns.
Pac-Man — About this game
Pac-Man makes each trip around the maze a choice between collecting dots, escaping a pursuer and taking a scoring opportunity. Ordinary ghosts cost you a life on contact, but a Power Pellet temporarily makes them vulnerable. Chasing several in succession raises the reward, though their normal behaviour returns when the effect ends. The side tunnels provide a way across the maze, and bonus fruit offers another reason to reconsider your route. Finish every dot to move on, preserving lives while building your score. This European NES edition includes a two-player score contest with alternating turns, not two Pac-Men sharing the maze at once.
