Areios travels through a chapter-based action role-playing adventure where conversations, exploration and direct combat all contribute to progress. Town residents provide clues and daily activity gives the places a life beyond their role as shops. Outside those settlements, moving into contact with enemies makes position and preparation important, while major encounters change to a side-view action format. Weapons, protection and recovery should be considered before setting out, especially when the next destination takes the hero far from help. Read the current chapter's requests and speak to people again as events develop rather than expecting every route to be open immediately. The changing battle perspective gives the journey two rhythms: patient investigation between towns and more concentrated action at its major confrontations.
