How to Play Minesweeper
Quick start
Choose a board and uncover an initial square. Look for numbers whose adjacent hidden squares can be resolved, mark the mines you can justify and expand from the safe edges.
Controls
The direction pad moves the cursor between cells. Use the action buttons to uncover a square or mark a suspected mine. Select difficulty and other options through the menu.
Minesweeper — About this game
This PC Engine version turns the familiar minefield puzzle into a controller-driven exercise in deduction. An opened square tells you how many mines touch it, including diagonally adjacent cells. Comparing neighboring numbers allows you to identify safe squares and mark suspected mines. The board becomes easier to read when you work from clear deductions rather than scattering guesses across unrelated areas. A flag records your conclusion, but an incorrect flag can distort later reasoning, so revisit assumptions when the surrounding numbers stop agreeing. The challenge is to reveal the safe portion of the field while leaving the mines untouched. As the available space narrows, careful comparison of overlapping clues becomes more important than moving the cursor quickly.
