Quick start
Begin the story and learn Yuko’s sword reach in the first stage. Practice a safe jump before attacking from the air, and keep room to retreat when a larger enemy appears.
Controls
The direction pad moves and crouches. Use the action buttons to swing the sword and jump, and the in-game selection commands for available magic or equipment. RUN pauses the action.

The original Valis story is retold in a PC Engine remake built around side-scrolling sword combat and an expanded dramatic presentation. Yuko’s ordinary life gives way to a conflict between worlds, and the Valis sword becomes her means of confronting the enemies along the route. Reworked stages ask for measured jumps, attention to attack distance and a sense of when an enemy leaves an opening. Story scenes connect the areas and explain how Yuko becomes involved in the wider struggle. Stronger firepower helps, but it does not remove the danger of a poor landing or an attack made too close to a hazard. Approach each new stretch as a combination of terrain and enemy patterns.
