The player’s ruler must turn income, population and military resources into a position strong enough to survive neighboring powers. Domestic commands and diplomatic decisions matter between battles, because an army depends on the territory that supports it. Expanding too quickly can leave newly taken land weak while another rival prepares an attack. A stable opening therefore begins with the home province and a clear understanding of the surrounding rulers. The game’s turn-by-turn structure gives time to compare options, but each commitment changes what remains available for the rest of the turn. Gradual consolidation is the foundation of a successful unification campaign.
