How to Play The Pro Yakyuu
Quick start
Select a team and an exhibition arrangement, then choose Action if you want direct batting and pitching. Read the count before each delivery and practice an ordinary swing before attempting advanced tactics.
Controls
The direction pad selects commands and adjusts the action appropriate to the current baseball phase. Use the action buttons to pitch, swing or field; menu controls set substitutions and the selected play mode.
The Pro Yakyuu — About this game
The Pro Yakyuu offers several ways to follow a Japanese professional baseball game. Action play places immediate pitching and batting decisions in the player’s hands, while simulation and automatic settings change how much is resolved through direct control. Friendly and competitive arrangements provide a short introduction, and the Open structure allows a tournament with teams assigned to players or the computer. Pitchers and batters are shown from behind, with the view changing for the ball in play. Understanding the chosen mode is the first step to reading the result correctly. Watch the count, outs and runner positions, because the best decision for a batter with no one on base can be wasteful in a scoring situation.
