How to Play R-Type Complete CD
Quick start
Begin at a manageable difficulty, learn the opening enemy placements and collect the Force upgrade. Practice attaching and detaching it in open space, then charge the beam before a durable target enters range.
Controls
The direction pad moves the R-9. II fires; hold and release it to charge and shoot the beam. I launches or recalls the Force. RUN starts or pauses the stage.

R-Type Complete CD brings the campaign together with CD music and voiced story scenes around its demanding horizontal shooting stages. The R-9’s ordinary gun can be charged for a stronger beam, while the Force adds a different tactical layer: attached, it protects and strengthens the ship; detached, it can attack from another position. Enemy placements and narrow terrain make planning more useful than indiscriminate movement. A strong weapon set helps only if the ship has room to survive the next pattern. Learn which threats can be handled by the Force and where a charged shot should be prepared in advance. Each attempt reveals more of the route and the safe positions within it.
