How to Play Shadow of the Beast
Quick start
Begin the adventure and practice attacking a single enemy while keeping space to retreat. Explore the opening routes carefully and note blocked passages.
Controls
Move with the direction pad; up and down also use ladders. I jumps and II attacks with the current weapon or a punch. I + II performs a jump kick. RUN pauses or skips a demonstration.
Shadow of the Beast — About this game
Aarbron’s monstrous body makes him an effective fighter, but escaping the forces that changed him requires careful exploration as well as combat. This side-scrolling adventure connects hazardous outdoor areas with enclosed passages and enemies that punish careless movement. The PC Engine CD adaptation presents the journey with its own audiovisual treatment, while retaining the need to learn where threats emerge and how far an attack reaches. Move deliberately through unfamiliar ground, watch your health, and note routes that cannot yet be completed. Progress depends on finding a workable path through the landscape rather than treating every screen as an isolated fight.
