How to Play Peter Jackson's King Kong
Quick start
Start Jack’s opening route, practise moving and double-tap to pick up a useful object. Aim before firing; learn the separate climbing prompts when Kong becomes playable.
Controls
Jack uses the D-pad or face-button movement option with stylus direction control; L/R fire or operate a lever in context, and double-tap picks up or calls a marked interaction. Kong moves with the D-pad, uses B for climb/jump, A/X to attack and repeated Y for indicated clearing or finish actions.

The DS adaptation alternates Jack’s first-person sections with shorter Kong sequences. As Jack, inspect the route for weapons, levers and signs where companions can help, then aim before firing at the island’s creatures. Touch interaction matters for picking up objects and triggering a companion’s action, so approach the marked point instead of shooting at everything. As Kong, the focus changes to climbing connected walls or branches, clearing a blocked path and attacking larger opponents. Begin by learning Jack’s movement and an object pickup before spending ammunition. When control changes, read Kong’s action prompts rather than expecting the same shooting controls.
