How to Play Pirates - Boarding!
Quick start
Create a save, read the first mission and complete the nearby island task. Use SELECT to review the logbook before setting sail.
Controls
D-pad moves the pirate or ship. A performs the displayed action, including talking, jumping or anchoring; B attacks on land or fires cannons at sea. B,B,Y makes a sword combo. SELECT opens the log, START pauses; the stylus handles mini-games. Blowing into the DS microphone speeds sailing.

Follow the logbook’s current mission through a mixture of island platform routes, trading and sea battles. Explore on foot for gold and tasks, then use a boat to reach the areas covered by the chart pieces you have found. Better ships and repairs help with hostile vessels, so check your resources before sailing into another fight. Begin with the first island request and complete it before wandering for later treasure. Mini-games become available through encounters in the adventure; the separate wireless Ship Ahead activity is a two-person game. The story advances through tasks and discoveries rather than an unrestricted naval sandbox.
