How to Play Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
Quick start
At the title screen, move the boomerang cursor to START and press START; use OPTIONS first if you want Normal difficulty or a different control layout. Harry Jr. begins in Ceiba Jungle while pursuing the warrior spirit Zakelua, who kidnapped his father. Collect sling stones, touch each carved location idol to set a checkpoint, and practise jumping onto vines, ropes and spider webs. Use the sling shot at range rather than taking unnecessary close-range damage, collect gold and weapon ammunition, then defeat the jaguar at the end of the first level to continue the rescue.
Controls
Default GBA layout: Control Pad Left/Right runs, turns, crawls, pushes and aims; Up/Down climbs, crouches, pulls, looks and aims. B: jump, grab or release vines and ropes. A: whip with the sling at close range. R: fire sling stones; hold for the stronger charged shot. L: throw the boomerang. SELECT+A: use an Exploding Stone of Pacal. START: pause/resume. The Controls entry under OPTIONS lets you change the action layout, so check it if these defaults have been altered.
