How to Play Platoon

Quick start

Begin by mapping the jungle paths instead of heading blindly right. Find the explosives first, then retrace your route toward the left side of the starting area to locate the bridge; the charge is planted automatically when you cross. Use B for rifle fire and A for grenades. In the village, enter huts with Up and search for equipment and the tunnel trapdoor. Avoid shooting civilians.

Controls

Jungle: Left/Right walk; Up jumps, takes an upward path, enters huts, or examines objects; Down ducks, takes a downward path, or leaves huts. B fires the rifle; A throws a grenade. Tunnels: Up advances, Left/Right turn; during aiming, the D-pad moves the sight. B fires or examines the targeted object; target the room's lower-right exit and press B to leave. Night defense: D-pad aims, B fires; target the flare gun and press B to launch a flare. Final jungle: D-pad moves, B attacks. START pauses.

Platoon — About this game

Platoon changes the challenge across four stages rather than repeating a single kind of shooting. The opening jungle is a maze: find explosives, cross the bridge, then search the village huts for equipment and the entrance to an underground tunnel network. Below ground, the action switches to a first-person view with rooms to search and enemies to aim at. Collecting the compass and flares prepares you for a nighttime defense where ammunition and visibility matter. A final timed escape leads toward a confrontation with Sergeant Barnes. Keeping soldiers alive is only part of the task: shooting innocent villagers also damages platoon morale.
