How to Play Pokémon Black Version 2
Quick start
1. Press START, choose NEW GAME and set your character, name and rival’s name. 2. Leave home in Aspertia City, meet Hugh and find Bianca on the lookout above the stairs. Speak to her, choose Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott and receive the Pokédex. 3. Use FIGHT and a move in your first battle against Hugh, then follow Bianca’s Pokémon Center tour to receive Poké Balls. 4. Collect the Running Shoes and maps outside, then head north through the gate to Route 19 for Bianca’s catching lesson. Continue toward Floccesy Town; heal your team and save with X > SAVE.
Controls
D-pad: move and select. A: confirm, talk, inspect and advance text. B: cancel; after receiving Running Shoes, hold B while moving to run. X: open or close the menu. Y: open the Ready button menu for registered shortcuts. START: begin the game; also organize Bag items in supported screens. SELECT: rearrange Bag items and Ready menu entries. Touch screen: select battle commands and menu buttons. Save through X > SAVE.
Pokémon Black Version 2 — About this game
Two years after the first Unova adventure, a new Trainer begins in Aspertia City and receives a Pokémon from Bianca at the lookout. The journey follows a different route through the region, introducing new towns and Gym challenges while showing how familiar places have changed. A broader regional Pokédex brings Pokémon from earlier generations into the adventure, giving you more choices when building a team for turn-based battles. Hugh’s search and the renewed threat from Team Plasma connect the journey to Kyurem and the aftermath of the previous story. Beyond catching Pokémon and earning Badges, Pokéstar Studios lets you perform in films, while the Pokémon World Tournament offers themed competitions against notable Trainers. The sequel builds a new campaign around a changed Unova, with plenty to explore between major battles. Black 2 places Black Kyurem at the center of the story’s legendary conflict. Its later challenges include the Black Tower in Black City, whose successive battles reward careful preparation; some available Pokémon also differ from White 2.
