Begin with the lessons that introduce the play area, active and benched Pokémon, Energy and attacking. Follow the guided battle before moving to evolution, retreat and other card effects. In a match, read the hand and the active Pokémon’s requirements, attach the needed Energy and choose an available attack when ready. Later CPU opponents let you practise the rules inside complete card battles rather than only read a glossary. Start with the first tutorial and learn one turn at a time. This DS software uses its beginner-card environment, so do not expect the deck-building collection or campaign of the Game Boy card games.
