How to Play Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia
Quick start
Choose your protagonist and begin with the Pikachu capture test. Draw complete loops, lift the stylus when Pikachu warns of an attack, then continue until its Friendship Gauge is full. After admission, introduce yourself in Ms. April’s class and follow Rhythmi’s school tour. Use the classroom Save Machine when shown and explore the required rooms before continuing the outdoor capture lessons.
Controls
Move with the Control Pad or touch the direction you want to go. A talks, examines and confirms; B goes back or cancels. During captures, draw closed loops to add friendship and lift the stylus to avoid attacks; resume before the gauge drains too far. X/Y show accompanying Pokémon, L changes the upper-screen display and R opens the Styler menu. START and SELECT are unused. Touch a Pokémon and its target to follow the Field Move instructions.

Your Ranger career begins as a student in Almia, where lessons and classmates introduce the work of helping people, Pokémon and nature. Capturing now fills a Friendship Gauge rather than demanding one uninterrupted count of loops. You can lift the stylus to dodge an attack and continue, although an abandoned gauge gradually empties. Pokémon friends provide capture assistance and field abilities for obstacles, with travel options opening as you meet new species. Missions develop the main mystery while local Quests offer extra tasks and rewards. Additional partner choices become available through progress, giving the journey beyond school a growing range of helpers.
