How to Play Pokémon Ranger
Quick start
Choose a protagonist and begin at Fall City harbor. Investigate the shaking crate, follow the Pokémon and speak with Spenser. Watch his Houndoom capture, then use the Styler to calm Plusle or Minun. Draw complete loops without lifting until the blue count changes to an orange plus, then lift to finish. Follow Spenser to Ringtown and begin the Ranger Base’s introductory tasks.
Controls
Move with the Control Pad or touch a destination. Tap people and objects, or face them and press A, to talk or examine; A confirms and B cancels. During captures, keep the stylus down for the whole required loop sequence, then lift when ready to complete it. An early lift or broken line means starting the loops again. X/Y show accompanying Pokémon and START opens the Styler menu. L/R and SELECT have no ordinary gameplay function.
Pokémon Ranger — About this game
A hopeful new Ranger reaches Fiore and earns the chance to help people, Pokémon and nature with a Capture Styler. Captures are real-time touch challenges: you must draw the required loops in one continuous sequence, avoid attacks and lift the stylus at the right moment. Pokémon friends then lend abilities that clear obstacles or assist another capture, making the creatures around you part of each mission’s solution. A permanent Plusle or Minun partner accompanies the journey, while Ranger ranks expand what you can do. The missions gradually uncover the trouble caused by the Go-Rock Squad across Fiore’s towns and wild places.
