How to Play Pokémon White Version
Quick start
1. Press START, choose NEW GAME and set your character and name. 2. In your bedroom in Nuvema Town, open Professor Juniper’s gift box and choose Snivy, Tepig or Oshawott. Battle Bianca and Cheren by selecting FIGHT and a move. 3. Go downstairs, visit Bianca’s house and then meet your friends at Juniper’s laboratory to receive the Pokédex. 4. Follow Juniper to Route 1 for the catching lesson and Poké Balls, then continue toward Accumula Town. Weaken wild Pokémon before using a ball from the Bag; heal at Pokémon Centers and save with X > SAVE.
Controls
D-pad: move and select. A: confirm, talk, inspect and advance text. B: cancel; after receiving Running Shoes, hold B while moving to run. X: open or close the menu. Y: open the Ready button menu for registered shortcuts. START: begin the game; also organize Bag items in supported screens. SELECT: rearrange Bag items and Ready menu entries. Touch screen: select battle commands and menu buttons. Save through X > SAVE.
Pokémon White Version — About this game
Your first Pokémon arrives in a gift box, and a friendly battle in your bedroom soon becomes a journey across Unova. With Cheren and Bianca setting out alongside you, you explore quiet towns, busy cities, bridges and caves while building a team through captures and turn-based battles. Each Gym tests how well you understand move types, switching and the strengths of the partners you have raised. Beyond the Badge challenge, encounters with N and Team Plasma question the relationship between people and Pokémon and lead the story toward Unova’s legendary dragons. Changing seasons alter the look of the region and affect parts of its exploration. Animated battle sprites give your growing team character, while Pokémon Centers and the Pokédex provide familiar places to recover and record your discoveries. White features Zekrom as its story dragon and White Forest as a distinctive area reached later in the adventure. Its version-specific encounters and the forest’s wild Pokémon provide a different collecting experience from Black’s city-focused counterpart.
