How to Play Popeye no Eigo Asobi

Quick start

Use SELECT to match WORD PUZZLE A and start with START. First, move to the field you know, such as ANIMAL, and decide with A. Think of an English word by looking at the meaning of the katakana and the number of hearts, then move Popeye under the required letter and select it with A. If you don't know the correct spelling, select "?" to find out the correct spelling. Use START to take a break, and avoid pressing SELECT during the game.

Controls

Cross button: Move Popeye/Brutus up/down/left/right. A: Specify the alphabet above the head and also decide by field selection. B is not used. SELECT: Selects the mode in the title, cancels the current game and returns to the title during play. START: Start, pause/resume. In WORD CATCHER, Popeye uses controller 1 and Brutus uses controller 2 to catch the required letters in order.

Popeye no Eigo Asobi — About this game

``Popeye's English Play'' is an educational software that focuses on English words divided into six categories such as animals and food. In WORD PUZZLE A for one person, students use the meaning and number of katakana characters as clues to fill in the blanks by choosing the alphabet included in the word. WORD PUZZLE B has no hint of its meaning, so narrow down the answer based on the number of letters and the letters you find. If you make too many mistakes, you'll lose the sweepy, so you want to choose words carefully while remembering the words you know. In WORD CATCHER for two players, the player collects the falling letters in the order of their spelling, and the first person to complete five words wins. You can check out the 500 words recorded in different ways, such as guessing-type fill-in-the-blanks and quick movement.
