How to Play Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken
Quick start
Press A on the title to start. When Yasu waits for instructions in Hanakuma-cho, select ``Basho Ido'' using the up and down buttons, confirm with A, and head to ``Yamakawa Yashiki''. In front of the mansion, select Move again, go inside, and use ``Search something'' in the study to check for corpses and murder weapons. For commands that cannot be found, press B to switch to another list. Make a note of the names and research destinations you obtained, and use them for interviews and character research.
Controls
Cross button: Select commands and targets, move magnifying glass, hammer, and telephone cursor. A: Start, determine command/target, continue conversation, investigate specified location. B: Switches the command list between two sets, and cancels the command while the target is selected. START and SELECT are not used. When you select ``Basho Ido'' in the maze, you can move the maze by moving forward at the top, turn left or right, and look back at the bottom. Press A to return to the normal command list.

"Portopia Serial Murder Case" is a command-selection mystery game that begins with the death of Kozo Yamakawa in his home's study. The player takes on the role of the detective ``boss'' of the First Investigative Division, interviewing the people involved and conducting background checks through his subordinate Yasu. There is more than one way to gather information, such as examining pictures of the scene with a magnifying glass or showing people the items they have collected to see how they react. As you obtain new evidence, you may be able to hear different stories from places or people you've previously visited. It is important to take note of people's names, whereabouts, and discrepancies in testimony, and to expand the investigation beyond just focusing on the suspects that come to mind. In the maze, you need to figure out the direction and route on your own, and your ability to read conversations and careful observation will help.
