How to Play Puzzle Time
Quick start
Choose Free Play and a familiar type to learn the entry controls. In Sudoku, select an empty cell and enter a value consistent with its row, column and box. Try Number Trail by following the displayed calculation before answering. Once comfortable with the rules, enter Puzzle Time Mode and complete its required set within the time limit.
Controls
Use the stylus to select modes, puzzle types and the cell or answer area you want to work on. Enter the requested letter or number using that puzzle's displayed entry controls, and use the shown correction control to revise an answer. Check the current rules before changing type; Free Play has no timer, while Puzzle Time Mode shows the remaining allowance.
Puzzle Time — About this game
Five puzzle types share the collection: Crossword, Sudoku, Code Cruncher, Number Trail and Anagram. Crosswords use clues and crossing words, Sudoku tests grid consistency, and anagrams ask you to rearrange letters. Code Cruncher replaces crossword letters with codes, while Number Trail presents mathematical operations whose result you must work out. Free Play lets you choose a type without a time limit, making it a useful place to learn a different set of rules. Puzzle Time Mode instead asks for a number of completed puzzles within its allowance, rewarding progress to the next level. Preferences let favourite types appear more often and less welcome ones less often. The DS uses stylus input, so the challenge moves between interpreting a clue, checking a grid and entering an answer rather than fast button combinations.
