How to Play R.C. Pro-Am
Quick start
Start with START on the first controller. Hold B for acceleration and practise short left/right steering inputs while following the car’s nose through a bend. Avoid the hazards and concentrate on staying among the first three finishers. Pick up ammunition and a weapon, then use A when it can help you pass or stay ahead. START pauses the race and resumes it. During the demonstration, START or SELECT brings back the start screen.
Controls
B is the accelerator. Left and right on the D-pad turn relative to the direction your car faces; up and down are unused. A operates the equipped missile or bomb, or the horn. START starts, pauses and resumes. SELECT has no racing function but exits the demonstration. Play uses controller one only.
R.C. Pro-Am — About this game
R.C. Pro-Am puts a small remote-control car into lively races against three computer drivers. Advancing means placing first, second or third, so recovering from trouble is as important as building a lead. Left and right turn with the vehicle’s orientation, not with the screen, giving the angled circuits a distinctive learning curve. Rain, standing water, oil and barriers make the racing line less straightforward. Useful track pickups improve acceleration, grip and maximum speed, while missiles and bombs can interrupt an opponent’s progress. Your ammunition is retained between races, so firing everything at the first opportunity wastes a valuable reserve. Collect the bonus letters to spell NINTENDO and qualify for a quicker vehicle. Successful runs build a trophy collection, but the central challenge remains staying competitive through each new circuit. Only one person drives; the other cars belong to the computer.
