How to Play Rocket Ranger
Quick start
Press START during the title sequence. At the main menu, use the direction pad and A to enter the War Room. Select agents on the map with A, read their reports, and assign infiltration orders to search for labs and fuel sites. Before traveling, visit the Fuel Depot to transfer Lunarium into your rocket pack. Choose TAKE OFF, point to a destination, press A, and check the fuel requirement before accepting. Use SELECT in the War Room only when you mean to let a month pass.
Controls
Direction pad: move or aim, and move menu/map cursors. A: confirm a selection or fire. In fistfights, hold A and press Up for an uppercut, Left/Right for a cross, or Down for a body punch; without A, Up/Down guards the head and Left/Right guards the body. SELECT: advance one month in the War Room. START: start or pause/resume. B is unused. Fuel Depot: Up/Down chooses transfer endpoints, Left/Right moves fuel, A finishes. On an agent's AGENTS line, hold A and use Left/Right to transfer agents between assignment and reserves.
Rocket Ranger — About this game
In the NES version of Rocket Ranger, the year is 1990 and the Leutonians are spreading across the world from an alien moon. A kidnapped scientist and his daughter need rescuing, but reaching their captors requires more than winning a few firefights. You must locate five hidden laboratories, obtain the rocket components, and secure enough Lunarium to power both your flying suit and the final spacecraft. The War Room lets you assign agents to gather intelligence or organize resistance, balancing safer cover against faster but riskier work. Missions switch to aiming battles and bare-knuckle fights. Fuel planning and the advancing invasion make each trip a strategic decision, while the Rocket Lab tracks your readiness for the final journey.
