How to Play Rod Land
Quick start
Press START at the title to begin. Move beside an enemy and tap B to catch and repeatedly slam it. Hold Up or Down with B to make a ladder, then climb with Up/Down. Clear the enemies to advance, or gather all flowers first to work towards EXTRA. For two players, press START on controller 2 in the first scene.
Controls
Left/Right: walk. Up/Down: climb ladders. B: use the rod and repeatedly slam a caught enemy. Up/Down+B: create a ladder above or below; making another replaces the old one. A: jump when jumping is enabled in Options. START: begin, pause/resume or continue when available. Title Left: Options; Up/Down selects an option, SELECT/A/B changes it.
Rod Land — About this game
Rit and Tam climb Maboot's Tower armed with magic rods and the ability to create temporary ladders. Catch a nearby monster, slam it repeatedly and use the dropped weapon to deal with other enemies. Clearing the enemies advances the scene, but collecting every flower first offers another opportunity: the remaining monsters become letter-dropping creatures, and completing EXTRA earns an additional life. The European NES version also provides options for jumping, hints, colours and the way two players interact. Decide whether to rush for safety or take the risk of collecting flowers before the enemies become faster.
