How to Play Rondo of Swords
Quick start
Play the tutorial missions before choosing New Game. Practise plotting a melee route through an enemy and past an ally with a support skill, then inspect the finishing square before committing. In the opening battles, keep Serdic protected and plan the party's spacing. Use Bow or Magic for ranged characters rather than trying to attack by routing them through enemies.
Controls
On the touch screen, select a unit and trace its movement route within its allowed range. Include enemies on a melee fighter's route to strike them and supporting allies to receive their effects. Inspect the endpoint before executing the move. Select Bow or Magic from the character's commands for ranged attacks; those characters do not use route contact as their attack. The touch screen is also used for selecting map units and commands.
Rondo of Swords — About this game
Rondo of Swords makes a unit's route the centre of tactical combat. Melee fighters strike the enemies they pass through, so one carefully planned movement can hit several targets and collect support from an ally along the way. Archers and mages instead use their own Bow and Magic commands, giving them different roles in the formation. A good route must also end somewhere safe: leaving several allies lined up can hand an opponent an equally damaging path. Attacking and healing build Momentum Counter, which changes a character's effectiveness and attracts enemy attention. Between battles, reserve characters can take errands, so managing the whole roster matters as much as finding a strong path across one map.
