How to Play Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon

Quick start

Start a new game and follow Mist's introduction to the farm. Use her hoe to till a small 3-by-3 patch, equip the turnip seeds and sow from its center, then fill the watering can at the well and water each planted square. Meet the villagers and inspect the house's save point. Develop the farm and seek the mayor's cave permit before planning a dungeon trip.

Controls

DS defaults: D-pad moves; hold R while moving to run. A talks, examines, picks up and gives items; B uses the equipped tool/weapon, eats a held food item or cancels menus. X stores a held item or casts the equipped spell. START opens status/inventory and pauses. L+A selects a held item, L+B a tool/weapon, L+X a spell. SELECT toggles the target square. Touch also selects menu options.

Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon — About this game

Raguna arrives outside Kardia with no memory and receives food, shelter and farmland from Mist. Working the land becomes one side of a life that also includes real-time combat in nearby caves. Growing crops, shipping produce and talking to townspeople support longer expeditions, while weapons and magic help uncover the mystery behind the monsters. Cave access depends on permits from the mayor, so the adventure opens gradually instead of offering every dungeon at once. Rune Points link farming and fighting to a shared daily limit. Mature crops can produce rune energy, making cultivation part of exploration rather than a separate distraction. This first Nintendo DS game establishes the balance between a quiet village routine and dangerous journeys beyond it.
