Quick start
Create four party members, read the opening conversations and inspect their equipment. Try a first battle, compare growth and only then experiment with monster meat and combined attacks.
Controls
Use the DS field and command menus to move, speak, inspect equipment and choose battle actions. Read a transformation or Thread of Fate option before confirming; the different races need different growth decisions.

SaGa 2 begins with a father's departure and a search that carries a custom party across nine worlds. Humans, espers, mechs and monsters develop differently: equipment matters especially to mechs, while monsters can change by eating defeated creatures' meat. Learn the starting party's strengths before replacing equipment or accepting a transformation. The DS remake adds Threads of Fate, which can connect attacks and influence relationships. Begin with the opening conversations and a manageable battle, then compare what changed in each character rather than expecting everyone to gain levels in the same way.
