How to Play Saikyou Toudai Shougi DS
Quick start
Choose Free Play, set an appropriate opponent strength and review handicap and hint options. Make a few careful moves, then try a quiz or enter the league when comfortable with the board.
Controls
Select a board piece and its legal destination using the DS game interface. Captured pieces must be selected from the hand before dropping. Check promotion and move confirmation prompts, and use the selected hint setting when available.

Saikyou Toudai Shougi DS offers a league against thirty-one characters with different favourite strategies, leading toward a Meijin challenge. Free play lets you choose strength, handicap and hint settings, while separate tournaments and shogi quizzes offer shorter goals. Begin with a free game at a manageable setting before entering the league. Read the board, protect your king and consider captured pieces as future drops, rather than moving only the pieces already in play. A next-move question is a focused exercise; a full league match requires planning across the whole board.
