How to Play Sands of Destruction
Quick start
Choose New Game. On the field, use the D-pad to move and A to talk or examine; open X to inspect the party menu. In the first battles, select an enemy with the D-pad, compare X's Blow with Y's Flurry and watch the remaining BP. Use A to open skills/items, and defend with B when you want to finish the turn safely.
Controls
Field: D-pad moves, A talks/examines/confirms, X opens the menu and L/R rotate the camera where allowed; hold B with movement to walk. Battle: D-pad selects a target, X uses Blow, Y uses Flurry, A changes to skills/items and B defends or backs out of a submenu. Hold L for command help; hold R until the flee gauge empties to escape an escapable battle. The stylus is not used.
Sands of Destruction — About this game
Sands of Destruction combines field exploration with battles controlled entirely by the DS buttons. Kyrie and his companions take turns according to an action-order display, with Battle Points setting how many commands a character can use. Blow attacks hit hard but are less accurate; Flurry attacks trade individual strength for a more reliable series of hits. Once a character attacks a target, that target remains fixed for the turn, and defeating it ends the turn even if points remain. Skills and items offer other ways to respond, while equipment, Quips and attack customization give you room to shape the party. Planning a turn means choosing both the enemy and the sequence of commands, rather than simply spending every point as fast as possible.
