How to Play Samurai Shodown
Quick start
Choose a fighter and begin an opening bout. Try a light attack at different distances to learn its reach, then block an opponent's response. Start with simple attacks before attempting directional special moves.
Controls
Use the D-pad to move, jump, crouch and hold away from the opponent to guard when able. Use the assigned slash and kick buttons to attack. Review the game's button configuration before trying combinations.
Samurai Shodown — About this game
Samurai Shodown places armed fighters in one-on-one bouts where a badly judged attack can be punished heavily. Character choice changes reach and the rhythm of engagement, encouraging players to find a useful distance before committing to a slash or kick. The Mega-CD adaptation carries the original game's weapon-fighting focus rather than the rules of later sequels. Guarding, watching an opponent's recovery and choosing a measured reply are central to its duels.
