How to Play The Secret of Monkey Island
Quick start
Leave the lookout and visit the SCUMM Bar to learn the three trials. Talk to its occupants, inspect interesting objects and practise combining a verb with a person or item. Keep track of places that need a tool you do not yet have.
Controls
D-pad moves the pointer. Select a verb or action, then the person or object it should affect. Choose inventory items for object puzzles and a response during conversations.
The Secret of Monkey Island — About this game
Guybrush arrives on Melee Island with ambitions of becoming a pirate and is given three tests to prove himself. Exploring the island introduces eccentric inhabitants, useful objects and obstacles that are solved through observation and inventive combinations. Conversations are part of the puzzle, particularly when learning insults for a swordfight. The journey grows into a rescue involving Governor Elaine Marley and the ghost pirate LeChuck, while keeping a comic tone throughout its point-and-click adventure.
